The Home Buying Process:
Buying a house or an apartment is a pretty simple process.
- Get mortgage 'approval in principle' so you know what your budget is.
- Find a suitable property and place a 'booking deposit' with the estate agent. This will usually secure it for between 21 - 28 days, so you can finalise your mortgage paperwork.
- Hire a Solcitor.
- Your mortgage consultant will arrange a valuation on the property and a letter of offer will be issued.
- If the property is second hand, get a surveyors report completed on the property now.
- Sign contacts.
- At this stage, you will probably be given an estimated closing date
- 4 - 6 weeks before closing: Get your mortgage protection insurance and house insurance in place and ensure that all conditions on your letter of offer are satisfied.
The mortgage advisor will liase with the estate agent, solicitor, and bank to ensure the cheque issues when it’s required.
