Oversupply of Apartments

Property developers prefer building apartments rather than houses, because they can fit more units into the exact same space, which means that they can make a lot more money.

As a result, tens of thousands of apartments were built in the last few years. With the current downturn in the property market, many units are currently unsold.

In addition, there’s a concern that as foreign workers return to their countries, due to the current economic problems, there’ll be a glut of vacant buy-to-let apartments.

Pets

Most apartment blocks have a ‘no pets’ policy.

Apartments can be noisy:

Some apartments have very poor sound insulation and as a result can be very noisy.

You may be able to listen to the conversations of the people next door, and hear the tenants in the apartment above stomping around on their wooden floors.

To get a better idea of the ‘normal’ noise levels, make sure you view apartments in the evening when everyone is home from work and school.
